What is Crohn’s Disease?

Crohn’s disease is a chronic (lifelong) autoimmune condition that inflames and irritates the digestive tract, most commonly the small and large intestines (colon). Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two most common forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Treatments typically help patients to manage symptoms and provide them with the ability to live an active life.

How Crohn’s Disease is Managed Through Novella Infusion Therapy

Crohn’s Disease symptoms can be managed through regular infusion treatments. Patients can expect an infusion to last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours for most Crohn’s Disease therapies. Patients who receive infusion therapy at Novella Infusion usually have reduced symptoms and experience remission when treatments are maintained.

What to Expect at my Crohn’s Disease Infusion

Crohn’s Disease infusions at Novella begin when a nurse inserts a very thin catheter into one of the patient’s veins. The nurse will then use this IV line to connect the patient to the medication. All Novella locations have a Nurse Practitioner on site and the patient is monitored continuously throughout treatment for any negative reactions. After the Crohn’s Disease treatment is complete, the patient is disconnected from the medication by the nurse. In some cases, the patient is asked to stay on site for a short time post-treatment for observation.
